Tierney Milne and Joshua Conrad, Vancouver, Canada

Tierney’s artist statement: With a background in Psychology, any opportunity to shine a light on and bring awareness to our mental health is very important to me, especially in these times where it is crucial to de-stigmatize the topic and be able to speak openly and vulnerably about what can often be a taboo subject.

Tierney is a Montreal-born, Vancouver-based artist and muralist who focuses on interrupting people’s day with positivity through intentionally fun compositions and forms, bold palettes and vibrant patterns to bring her work to life and brighten the public’s day. Select previous clients include Footlocker, Facebook, Lululemon, NBA and various mural festivals throughout Canada and the US.

Joshua is a multi-disciplinary illustrator and animator working in digital media, with a concentration in 3D illustration and motion design. He uses abstract art, fluid shapes and tangible texture to encourage a sense of tactile exploration. With programs typically used to create renders of the real world as realistic as possible, he instead imagines out-of-this-world pieces that often float, bounce, and slide between the boundary of dreams and reality. These soothing forms use familiar textures, feelings, materials and sounds to evoke a sense of wonder.
Mental health is especially important to Joshua, and he was excited to explore bringing this impactful message to life with Tierney through projection mapping.
