Do artists own the work they submit to YANAM?

All artists retain copyright of their work and when we reshare, it will always be with credit. If there is an opportunity for use beyond sharing, we will consult with the artist.

Does YANA share all submitted work?

Yes. We intend to share all work in Stories and Highlights. To be featured (includes: feed post, part of carousel post, for use in an activation, or inclusion on our website), your work must be uploaded and some brief info added here. This allows us to properly catalog your participation and work.

Can I share/repost You Are Not Alone art?

Art may only be shared on a noncommercial basis. Businesses may share the work after securing permission from the artist directly.

How can I submit work to YANAM?

Check out the guidelines here.

Can you help me find a wall to paint for YANAM?

Unfortunately, we know just how hard it can be to secure a safe legal outdoor wall. Please add your name to our list of interested artists and we will let you know if anything pops up in your area.

You can also use a sample letter we have written (adjusting as needed) to reach out to landlords or business owners to ask for their participation.

Does YANAM need to approve my work before I can share it or paint it?

Nope.

Is this a paid opportunity?

No. Work is created on a voluntary basis.

Can I put advertising or promotion on a YANAM wall?

No. In order to be considered part of this project and have your work shared by us, the only text on the wall should be project related (such as your info, @youarenotalonemurals, #youarenotaloneart, #mentalhealthmatters). Any thank yous can be shared in the caption of your post or with tags.

Can I really only use the words “you are not alone” and only the colors yellow, black, white and gray?

Yes. In order to be considered part of this project and have your work shared by us, you have to follow these requirements.

Is YANAM a nonprofit?

We have incorporated in NY State as nonprofit, Purpose Projects NY, Inc. We are now in the process of filing for 501(c)(3) status.
