Sally Rumble, Seaport, NYC, NY 2023

Artist Statement: As a 17-year-old diagnosed with clinical depression, I faced the challenge of feeling isolated due to the stigma surrounding mental illness. one of my heroes, Paul Robeson said "artists are the gatekeepers of truth," which resonates in the YANAM project's worldwide impact, serving as a testament to the power of creative expression in revealing and confronting difficult realities that we have the power to solve. By participating in this beautiful collective effort towards the truth, it is my hope that we can continue to spark hope and change for a world in which nobody has to suffer without the necessary resources required to get to the next day.
