Artist statement: This year, 2022, I was struggling to make time for this project while balancing running my own business and being a single mom. I was questioning if my priorities were in the right place and if I was managing my responsibilities well. And my mother said to me one night, "What an amazing thing this is. A once in a lifetime opportunity." It completely flipped how I see this. I have always wanted to create work that is of service to people, and here I am, doing it and inspiring others to do it as well. This is such a special project, it is reaching people, it is sparking conversations - both public and private. It is doing what we wanted it to do and I couldn't be prouder to be a part of it. Every time I see a photo of a wall shared I am so happy to think someone that needed to hear this, will hear it today.
Annica is the cofounder of You Are Not Alone Murals. She is an art director, lettering artist, illustrator, and mural painter working with agencies and brands to create more authentic products, campaigns, and spaces. Work done by Dirty Bandits is fueled by Annica’s deep appreciation for type, her interest in storytelling, and dedication to brands and individuals working for social good. Projects include working with companies on campaigns, branding, books, lettering projects, and murals.
