Cristina Pagononcelli, Seaport, NYC, NY 2023

Artist Statement: CRISPA believes in the power of street art to communicate and generate connection with people. Whenever possible she works to encourage and inspire other women and people to express their emotions and to make their voices heard. Talking about our deepest fears and desires connects us all and makes us feel much less alone.

Artist Bio: Cristina Pagnoncelli, aka CRISPA, is a visual artist, designer and muralist from Brazil. She has also lived and worked in Barcelona and NYC, and usually travels a lot working from anywhere she finds herself at the time. Acting as an independent professional for years, Cristina works with lettering and several different projects using type, illustration and letters as the main role creating unique visual brands, book covers, editorials and murals from medium to large scale and different finishes. Among exhibitions and international recognition she was a typography jury to the 2021's ADC Annual Awards of The One Club for Creativity NY and to the 2019's Bienal Brasileira de Design – ADG Brasil. Since 2015 she became reference in chalk murals – and also launched her own "school project" @oficinadegiz – sharing her knowledge through workshops and lectures in Brazil, Argentina, Portugal, Spain and Italy. Recently, she has also collaborated with Doméstika in an online class. Whenever possible, Cristina uses design and lettering as a form of expression and a tool for social activism – especially on feminism and cycling matters – empowering and encouraging other women on visual arts and street art interventions.
